Ultrasound: The Future of Breast Cancer Detection

Oasis Family Medicine is excited and honored to welcome back Dr. Kevin Kelly for a free community event on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm
Dr. Kelly is the Medical Director of The Breast Ultrasound Center in Pasadena, CA, and has been in private practice as a diagnostic radiologist for 34 years. He was Director of Breast Imaging at Huntington Memorial Hospital and The Huntington-Hill Breast Center in Pasadena for 20 years. Dr. Kelly is one of this country’s leading authorities on using ultrasound to detect cancers in women with dense breast tissue. Since 1993, he has been conducting clinical research on the discovery and characterization of breast cancer by ultrasound, and in 1997 began his journey to develop SonoCiné AWBUS. Dr. Kelly remains passionate and dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer. His goal is to educate women about the importance of understanding their breast type so they can make informed decisions about their screening options.
Dr. Kelly will discuss the real truth about breast ultrasound versus other methods of detection, and the results are astounding. He says he's finding cancer even sooner/smaller than before and is now writing a paper about it. This technology has the capability to detect all breast cancers between 5-10 mm in size and some even as small as 3-4 mm. The amazing thing about this is that breast cancer under 10 mm in size does not lead to death (less than 1%) in any of the women studied. Early detection is the key! Breast ultrasound technology has the potential to change the future of women's health similar to the way that the pap smear ended cervical cancer death for women back in the 1950's. Just like the pap smear, early detection and removal of the lesion saves lives and changes history.
More information can be found on Dr. Kelly's website, and you can watch Dr. Kelly's TEDx Talk: The Future of Breast Cancer Detection is Already Here.
Seats are limited, so be sure to RSVP here! We hope to see you on October 14!
Have a great week, and as always, please feel free to pass this along!
