I guess you could say today's subject is a PSA (public service announcement) with a two-fold purpose. One is to educate and the other is to make a request. What is the PSA, you ask? As much as possible, Oasis Family Medicine has made significant efforts to maintain our office as a "synthetic chemical fragrance-free" zone.
It is always our goal to provide up-to-date information to educate you on all aspects of healthy living. Our choice to be a fragrance-free office is not because we don't want people to smell nice. It is simply because we want to provide a safe environment for ALL our patients and visitors. You may or may not realize it, but wearing a fragrance, perfume or cologne to the doctor's office may have adverse effects on those around you. It's possible that is something you have never considered before. Please read on to find out more.
For many people, the choice to avoid fragrances is not necessarily a preference, but rather a medical necessity. The synthetic chemicals in some fragrances can cause chemical sensitivities which trigger medical issues for some people, i.e. headaches, fatigue, and a number of other symptoms. When at all possible, we want to do what we can to minimize or avoid compounding medical issues for our patients. We know our patients appreciate our attention to those seemingly small, little known details that can turn out to be significant when it comes to their health and well-being.
Here at Oasis Family Medicine, our patients are our priority, and we always strive to provide the best healthcare possible. That includes our office environment.
If you are someone who deals with chemical sensitivities, then please know we do our best to provide a healthy and safe environment for your doctor visits.
If you are someone who likes to use fragrances, we respectfully request that you refrain from doing so on the days you come into the office.
We sincerely thank you and want you to know it is very much appreciated, not just by the Oasis Family Medicine staff, but also by our patients!
