Mass Public Shootings Will Increase

Why?  Because of diet, specifically BCDS…

My theory is that BCDS (B-Complex Deficiency Syndrome) is to blame (at least partially).  B-complex is for multiple B-vitamins.  I can’t believe how often I hear that diet “has nothing to do behavior” or “my kid’s doctor said that what I feed him has nothing to do with why he’s acting out”.  Mind boggling to me.  Truly.  The SAD (Standard American Diet) is filled with mostly what I call “nonfoods” like refined and processed carbohydrates and sugar which are nearly devoid of any healthy naturally derived B vitamins (ie. Cereal and pasteurized homogenized milk for breakfast, then chips for a snack, then sugary peanut butter sandwich for lunch).

In young people, BCDS (B-Complex Deficiency Syndrome) leads to emotional problems.  In the young, one of the first signs of BCDS are in the brain and are emotional.  Physiology textbooks explain that vitamin B deficiency in young people can start out as depression then turn to anxiety, irritability, nervousness, fatigue, then severe depression, paranoia, hostility, rage, and overwhelming fear.  Some might say it’s a stretch to blame mass public shootings by more and more teenagers on BCDS, but I don’t think so.  I do not believe the answer to this is more antidepressants and psychotropic drugs.  The crazy part is that all these fear-based feelings are often not even the kids' fault because they don’t know any better.

If you know or own a troubled young person, please encourage them to eat real food and at least consider a whole food based B-complex (NOT a B complex derived from synthetic sources, as this will only make the problem worse after a short improvement!!!!).  A great example is Cataplex B from Standard Process.  6-9 capsules every day.  If the young person is more on the agitated mental side with ADD or ADHD, make sure to also add the calming portion of the B complex which is vitamin G and is found in Standard Process’ Cataplex G.  Take 4-6 capsules every day.  These will make a difference when it comes to emotional health.

Sadly, I don’t see change immediately on the horizon, since millions of people are employed in the processed and fast-food industries, fast food concoctions taste amazing, much money exists in the business of making these nonfoods, and physicians are still prescribing the absurd low-fat diet.  No gun control, background checks, mental health facilities, drugs, or anything else commonly prescribed is going to lift a young person out of a dark place until nutrition is understood and addressed as being hugely related to emotional problems.
I am still optimistic, though, because simply improving the nutritional status of young people will make a monstrous difference. Let me be clear that mental health is much more than just B vitamins; but I am also clear that B vitamins from a whole food source is pertinent to anyone’s mental health.  So, from a B complex standpoint, buy real foods, encourage consumption of said foods, or at least consider B complex supplementation from a real whole foods source.

If you know anyone who is in a dark emotional state or know anyone who owns anyone in this state, please pass this along.  Maybe YOU can help them by doing so.

Bugs help us Think Straight

First, let’s start off with an on-topic joke:

Adult: You are getting on my last nerve!

Child: What happened to the other nerves?

How do bugs help us think straight? …

Research continues to explore the intimate relationship between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain.  Numerous studies have gone so far as to connect gut-friendly microbes or probiotics to improved mood and brain function.  This notion is true for diabetics, as their metabolic disturbances can negatively impact brain function, including memory and learning.  When used in animal models, probiotic supplementation was shown to actually reverse deterioration of brain function through the bacteria’s ability to improve synaptic function.  Of course, not all probiotics are created equal, so make sure to use a high quality source.

Out of Gas – Beat – Spent – Fatigued – Tired – Done?

What can help?  Continue reading for 5 tips for regaining your energy.

Doctors tend to under-appreciate adrenal glands.  We are only taught about life threatening adrenal ailments in Medical School.  Adrenal glands are our primary gland that helps us deal with stress.  As far as I can tell, everyone has stress, at least here in the U.S.  That makes the adrenal glands probably the most important gland to address when someone complains of feeling “out of gas”, says “I’m spent”, “I’m beat” or complains of feeling tired or fatigued.  It should be the first place/gland that a doctor looks to (short of there being another obvious problem).  Everyone has adrenal glands.  And everyone is busy stressing theirs out!  One tiny walnut sized gland sits on top of each kidney.  These two tiny glands pack a lot of power in terms of our vitality and overall health.  The adrenals interact closely with the thyroid, the pancreas and the immune system and are responsible for producing cortisol – a potent anti-inflammatory – and the body’s best friend when in balance, but which can be quite a health challenge when out of balance.  When we treat the adrenals with whole food sources of support and herbs, energy returns, blood sugar balances out and gut health improves.  Adrenals crave plenty of B vitamins, trace minerals and Vitamin C for long term improvement.  I find that adding herbs like rhodiola and ginseng (among others) are a great way of speeding up the adrenal healing process. Another fantastic way to help reset the adrenals is to do a mild purification or detox.

6 additional tips for healing adrenal glands to regain your energy:
  • Enjoy the healty stress of mild exercises like walking or yoga.
  • Enjoy uninterrupted night-time sleep… and plenty of it.
  • Enjoy taking short 1 or 2 minute (or longer) breaks to breath slowly using your belly (not upper chest).  This is great to do before sleep and right away when waking.
  • Cut out refined sugars and carbohydrates and add in healthy fats and proteins.
  • Don’t skip meals.
  • Make a short (or long) list of things to feel good about and focus on them.

Coconut Oil – Fad or Awesomest Oil Ever?

I’m sharing some of my favorite uses for coconut oil:
  • Cooking.  One of the few healthy oils that should be used for high heat cooking.
  • Deodorant.  B.O. is from bacteria and since coconut oil has antibacterial properties, you can get rid of your deodorant (which likely has aluminum in it = BAD) and use coconut oil instead.  You can add any essential oil to it if desired.  Tea tree or peppermint are nice.
  • Toothpaste.  See above.  Mix equal parts coconut oil + baking soda +/- a couple drops of peppermint essential oil.
  • Oil Pulling.  Swish oil between teeth for 5-10 minutes to kill bad bacteria and thus freshen breath.
  • Weight loss.  The medium chain fatty acids are easily burned as fuel for energy.  Actually stimulates metabolism and burns fat.
  • C. diff infections (usually caused from antibiotics) – take 1 tablespoon 1-4 x/day.
  • Tooth abscess – coconut and sea salt mouth wash massaged onto affected gum and coconut oil on outside surface of jaw.
  • Heals wounds and greatly diminishes any scarring!
  • Burns – great for pain, healing, and scaring.
  • Skin moisturizer.
  • Reduces cellulite.  Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil then massage into area after shower/bath.
  • Shaving cream.
  • Alzheimer’s Dementia – many reports of it helping memory, concentration and mood.  On a personal note, coconut oil daily given to my own grandfather helped (without a doubt!) when nothing else would.
  • Improves Cholesterol profile.  Raises good and lowers the bad (‘bad’ is a misnomer since it’s not really bad) cholesterol.
  • Blood sugar balancer.
  • Intimate lubricant.  Won’t disturb vaginal flora like other lubricants.
  • Insect repellent.  Mix with a few drops of essential oils of tea tree, peppermint, rosemary, citronella to keep bugs away.  At least as effective and a million times safer than DEET.
The only potential side effects I’ll often see is: loose stool which is only when taken internally in too high of dosage.  “Too high of dosage” means different amounts for different people.  This of course leads me to one last usefulness for coconut oil: constipation :)

Plastics – Which TO use & which to NOT use

Plastics.  We know they’re bad for you.  But they’re so friggin convenient.  What to do, what to do?!  I’ll be brief and useful.

BPA (Bisphenol-A) is in most plastics.  What is it?  To summarize it is a HORMONAL DISRUPTER that is in almost all plastics.  Many studies in humans to prove BPA is a HORMONAL DISRUPTER.  Examples of just a few BPA exposure causes:
  • man boobs in men
  • decreased sperm production
  • weight gain in women
  • menstrual irregularities
  • increased inflammation
  • autoimmune conditions (ie. rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, thyroiditis, lupus, etc.)
  • kills fish and other marine life.

There are many plastic numbers that are used for recycling purposes.  These numbers are on the bottom or sides of the plastics you use.  I’m not going to bore you with the specifics of each plastic #, so here’s my summary:
  • #2, #4, #5 are the least damaging of all the numbered plastics (so if you must use plastic at least make sure you're using one of these).
  • #6, #7 should be avoided.
  • #1, #3, must be avoided at all costs.

What about “BPA-free” plastics which are supposed to be heat stable, chemical resistant, and non-hormone disrupters.  An example of BPA-free is Nalgene bottles.  Turns out that recent studies suggest that BPA-free are just as bad as BPA-containing plastic in terms of hormone disruption.

Solution:
  • Use stainless steel or glass containers.
  • Specific examples: Lunchbots, Klean Kanteen

What Cures Ebola, the Flu (and Pretty Much Any Other Infection)?

A couple weeks ago, I wrote on my blog an article titled “Ozone Therapy: Answer to Ebola?” which you can read again here.

The best news! Turns out the answer is YES.  Ozone is an oxidation therapy that can cure most types of infections, and by ‘most’ I mean, I haven’t seen an infection yet, that it can’t put a serious dent in.  So whether you need to treat Ebola, the flu, MRSA or some other infection, there’s great potential with using ozone/oxidation therapy.  To see the convincing evidence detailed in the recent press release from the two doctors who literally risked their lives last month, please see below for their request and their press release.

The following is from Robert Rowen and Howard Robins in their own words:

'Please get a copy of this to anyone in the news media (TV, newspapers and radio), the WHO, MSF and the United Nations that you know.

We need your help. The faster this information is circulated the sooner a larger clinical trial will take place in an Ebola treatment center.

This is what we have been waiting to happen. Proof positive that it will work on other victims will only come with more patients being allowed to to be treated.

We have our people in Sierra Leone meeting this very day with the government officials to try and open up Hastings Ebola Center again for a clinical trial.

Please help any way you can. Robert and I are available to assist you and speak to anyone that can assist this lifesaving effort.

Lives are at stake!

Thanks,

Robert Rowen and Howard Robins'

... and here is the official press release.

Robert Jay Rowen, MD[1] and Howard F. Robins, DPM[2]

Press Release: Rapid Ebola Infection Cure

Drs. Robert Rowen, of Santa Rosa California and Howard Robins, of New York City, announce the first cure of the Ebola infection in the world with a safe treatment costing less than 40 USD. On Friday November 14, 2014, a physician at an Ebola treatment center in Sierra Leone in West Africa accidentally stabbed himself with an Ebola contaminated needle.
This doctor had been recently trained in the Rowen-Robins Ebola Treatment Protocol, which uses the specific Robins Method of Direct Intravenous infusion of ozone gas (DIV). Upon the emergence of symptoms 2 days later on Sunday November 16, he called Kojo Carew, MD of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Dr. Carew is the physician in charge of maintaining the program and equipment/supplies brought and taught by Rowen/Robins who came to Sierra Leone to teach the protocol at the invitation of President Ernest Bai Koroma in October 2014.  The infected doctor did not return to work on Monday November 17, 2014, which became his first day of treatment.
Dr. Rowen was informed of the needle stick on Sunday November 16, 2014, but was not advised that symptoms had yet developed. Rowen sent back instructions to treat him preventively and immediately with the protocol, believing the exposed doctor to be at great risk for symptoms to develop within 5 days. Dr. Robins, informed shortly after, concurred with the preventive protocol and urgency of treatment. Unbeknownst to Dr. Rowen, symptoms did develop on day 2 (Sunday November 16) - the doctor reported high fever, loss of appetite, abdominal distress, and significant fatigue, which symptoms were rapidly progressing, classic signs of Ebola. Treatment began the third day after the needle-stick.
After just 2 days of treatment (November 18, 2014), all symptoms were gone.  The doctor chose not to get an Ebola blood test at the time. A positive test would have mandated forced confinement in an Ebola treatment center where he would have been denied the ozone therapy. He believed this would likely have cost him his life, as the best clinics in Sierra Leone have a 60% death rate.
Rowen and Robins did not want to wait for a positive test, which can take several days to occur, believing the earlier this life-taking viral infection is aggressively treated, the higher the chances of recovery. Active treatment will be maintained for at least 10 days with reduced frequency for 7 days thereafter.
Confinement at a conventional Ebola treatment facility would have denied him continuing ozone therapy, which, in a first-time ever for the world, quickly reversed manifestation of the lethal Ebola disease. DIV ozone therapy is considered “experimental” for Ebola at this time and thus is not permitted in the treatment centers as yet, however, other experimental treatments are permitted.
Today, November 22, 2014, Dr. “X” is in apparent good health and completely symptom free.
Drs. Rowen and Robins are extremely pleased that the inexpensive DIV ozone, together with the other aspects of the treatment protocol (oral vitamin C, glutathione support) has resulted in the world’s first, fast, complete recovery from Ebola symptoms.
This release is put out before publication in a medical journal as Rowen and Robins believe that this news can and should lead to many saved lives, which to them are more important than routine medical reporting protocol; and that health authorities around the world now need to open their “eyes and minds” to thinking “out of the box” when approaching this lethal disease. Rowen and Robins remain continuously available for assisting in the world’s Ebola relief effort.

Summary: Ebola infection cured with extremely inexpensive cheap and totally safe treatment.

A Bad Child? Or, Gifted at Disruptive Behavior? Simple Fix

"I wouldn't say your son is a bad child. He's just gifted at disruptive behavior..." Ever heard this or something like this, or thought this?

There's a potentially simple fix for childhood behavioral problems.

Folate deficiency during female pregnancy may be associated with an increase in behavioral problems later in a child's life while on the other hand, supplementation with natural folate (ie Nature Folate, 5-MTHF, methyl-folate) early in pregnancy may significantly reduce this risk.

I recommend using natural folates (see why here) instead of synthetic folic acid when supplementing this important B vitamin.

The product tech sheet for Prenatal Pro, which provides optimal supplementation for pregnant women, lactating women, and women wishing to become pregnant. This prenatal multivitamin contains a proprietary NatureFolate™ blend of active isomer naturally-occurring folates in place of synthetic folic acid.

Interesting to take a look at my blog post from November 21st, 2014 for a looksee how important this nutrient (and a nutrient dense diet in general) is for male pre-conception too!

*Please share with any females who you know will be or who are trying to conceive soon.
